Regard, Panel debate, 2010

-

With artists Thomas Elovsson, Ingo Vetter and Anna Kindgren & Carina Gunnars. Moderator: Aimar Arriola. The project is curated by Aimar Arriola, Marina Noronha, Maija Rudowska and Alexa Griffith Winton. In collaboration with CuratorLab/Konstfack.

The project "Regard: Subversive Actions in Normative Space", currently presented at Moderna Museet's The Studio, establishes a dialogue within the role of art and creative expression in the public sphere. Taking the works of artist Miguel Benlloch (Spain), artist collective Heidelberg Project (USA), artist and architect Hardijs Ledins (Latvia) and design collective Unilabor (Brazil) as departing points, the project seeks to activate reflections on the importance of self-management, organizational development of the informal systems within architectural contexts, and normative space for subversive as a stage performance.

With the goal of making the project as a place of active development, next April 29 the Studio will host a panel discussion which will address the issues raised above. Starting from the premise that the examination of past events makes sense only as a vehicle to recognize and understand the limits of experience in the present, the panel debate will gather practitioners from diverse disciplines whose work is directly engaged with the issues at stake. From their particular experiences, the participants will contribute to the debate in a Scandinavian context and from a strictly contemporary perspective.
